GENERAL INFORMATION

Here are some frequently asked questions about the FrancoFolies:

Security arrangements for the Special Events

We advise Festival fans to access the site from the East, using Ste. Catherine St. E. (Saint-Laurent Metro station). Also, for security reasons, folding chairs and lawn chairs will not be permitted on the site; strollers will be permitted, but are strongly discouraged.
As always, bicycles and rollerblades will not be permitted on the site, and cans and glass bottles are also forbidden. However, we advise Festival fans to bring a supply of water (in plastic bottles). Please note that it is forbidden to bring alcoholic beverages onto the site.

The FrancoFolies advises the public to travel to the concert from east to west and from north to south; the use of mass transit is strongly advised. Once on site, fans can always access the specially-designed security corridors, exclusively to exit the site during the performance. These “One Way” corridors can therefore be used to leave the site, but not to return. They lead directly to the Place-des-Arts Metro station, to Complexe Desjardins and to Jeanne-Mance St., northbound. Given these are, by definition, traffic corridors, pedestrians are not permitted to remain standing in them.
People in wheelchairs must contact Nathalie Lavergne at 514 288-1424, ext. 4404, on the eve of the concert in order to reserve a space on the esplanade.

Located in the very heart of downtown Montreal, the FrancoFolies site is contained in the four block radius of Ste-Catherine, President-Kennedy, Bleury and St-Urbain streets. The readily identifiable landmarks of Complexe Desjardins and the Place des Arts are right at the center of the festivities.

Given that certain streets are closed to traffic during the FrancoFolies and that parking spots downtown are at a bit of a premium, the best ways of getting to the FrancoFolies are by metro (subway), by taxi or on foot.

For those with no choice but to come by car, there are various paid parking possibilities surrounding the site and even right on it.

Of course, bicycles and in-line skates are equally good methods of transportation, but bear in mind they can't be used on the site. (Safety first…).

The Weather

Montreal tends to be on the warm and possibly sticky side in early July, with the temperature often climbing to over 30° Celsius (mid to upper 80° Fahrenheit). If you prefer not to melt in the sun, shorts and other light clothing are the order of the day, and for most evenings as well. We also recommend some sunscreen, and a hat. But given the legendary instability of Quebec weather, a windbreaker may sometimes come in handy, especially after sundown.
