A responsible FrancoFolies

Economic initiatives

Economic initiativesThe FrancoFolies' responsible approach also applies to the economic sphere. In this domain, the measures undertaken have involved local agents and products.

Local manpower

The FrancoFolies de Montréal encourage local know-how by hiring and engaging qualified personnel from the Montreal region. The workforce does not rely on volunteers.

Economic initiatives A leading economic actor in the domain of Montreal cultural tourism, Les FrancoFolies are endowed with an operating budget of approx. $9M. Drawing 850,000 visitors annually, the festival adds $10.8M to the Québec GDP every year. It supports or creates almost 220 jobs (equivalent to full-time).

Over twenty local artisans sell their products during the FrancoFolies de Montréal.

Buying local

Bag The FrancoFolies prioritize local suppliers, whether in technical or food matters, or for the production of auxiliary products.

Between 90 and 95% of foods sold on the FrancoFolies site are purchased less than 40 km from their distribution location. In addition to promoting the local economy, this local purchasing reduces the carbon emissions generated by transportation and market launch of products from foreign sources.

The FrancoFolies also prioritize local purchasing in the production of auxiliary merchandise bearing its logo and colours. The use of eco-friendly, recyclable, durable and biodegradable materials is also encouraged and promoted.

  • 100% of purchases are made with local distributors and manufacturers.
  • 100% of our clothing is printed or embroidered locally.
  • Our plastic bags are 100% recyclable.

Since 2006, many of the bags and accessories bearing the logo and colours of the FrancoFolies de Montréal have been made from recycled advertising banners. The FrancoFolies also offer reusable water bottles made of stainless steel.
